Gifts for friends
I took a couple of hours to make some gifts for friends this weekend. I have had this idea vaguely in my head for a couple of weeks and then last night the idea pretty much took over and I couldn't do anything else. Seriously. We're leaving on vacation tomorrow so I knew I wanted to get something finished and in the mail for these girls, but I still had laundry going, and packing to do, and even some more shipping to do before we leave...so what do I do, obsess over these little things until about 5:00 am! Yep, I told you the idea totally took over. Anyway, I have to tell you how incredibly special to me that this image is. I was almost hesitant to use it, you see my Mom and I own the only image of this in all the world. My great, great aunt was an absolutely amazing artist and this was one of her paintings. All of her work was this beautiful, and we're lucky to have a few of her pieces, but this one is my absolute favorite. I'll tell you more about her tragic life and show you some of her other work another time.
My idea was to create this beautiful petitie paperie. I wanted to include some of my favorite bases for creating combined with some beautiful images and trims, but I wanted it all to be combined into a pretty folder.
So pretty much the entire thing is decorated with vintage papers, lace, and trims, and even hand glittered in spots.
This is what was inside the pocket and clipped to the folder. I love how this turned out. This one is for a dear friend who has been through a lot lately and I just wanted to send her a little love. I hope she will love it and feel cheered a little.
While the last one was soft and more elegant, this one is a little brighter and playful. It's a belated birthday gift for another dear friend. Same concept, but different colors and images. I created this one using a vintage hankie and some vintage trims.
Love the adorable vintage coaster I clipped on here, it's just begging for all of these goodies to be played with!
The blank cards for playing with are pretty much the same as the other one, but I also included a little vintage flocked gingham fabric and a vintage posie.
And this is a little snippet of her birthday card that I need to get finished so I can get all of this in the mail in the morning. I really hope these sweet girls will enjoy their petite paperie folders and will have fun playing with them. My mind is spinning with other themes and colors I want to create these in so I definitely see those in my shops near future!
We're leaving tomorrow for a week in the mountains. I'm so looking forward to some play time with my family and yes, some uninterupted craft time for me. You can bet my sewing machine will be tucked away in my camper! LOL Who does that, right?
I hope you all had a wonderful 4th filled with good times and family! Talk to you soon!
xoxo, Cerri
